Haley M. Forté grew up in a small town in Washington State before moving to the Golden State at the age of ten. Growing up, Haley was surrounded by epic tales whether they were in books or films. At the age of ten, after moving to California, she gave up on trying not to daydream and began writing them down.  

Her interest in the speculative genres stems from seeking the unknown answers of the universe while wanting to expand it, too. In curating her curiosity, Haley has sought out knowledge in numerous subjects and while she does not hold degrees in them, she continues to seek knowledge and encourage others to do so as well.  

With her writing, she hopes to increase representation, promote access to literature by fighting against the stigma of banned books, and encourage escapism through speculative worlds. Whether its epic space battle, haunted carnivals, or time traveling with the appearance of a dinosaur or two, Haley is determined to challenge the stereotypes of women in science fiction and embrace the ever-changing publishing landscape by continuing to ask the question: What If?

Her first professional writing credit came in 2022 when she won a short story contest for her YA short THE COLLECTOR for Something Or Other Publishing’s annual contest. Since then, she has published other shorts and is determined to continue to do so as she works to gain representation for her first full-length manuscript, WALLS WITHIN A FOREST.  

Haley currently holds a BA in English and Creative Writing and an MFA in Creative Writing. When she is not writing, Haley can be found curating her Star Wars memorabilia, learning all she can about the Cosmos, and spending time with her cat, Gracie. She currently lives in Co. Tipperary, Ireland with her family.
